Guide to Services 2002-2003: Office of Information Technology

Calendar Options

Collaborative calendaring is an important tool in today's office environment. Co-workers often need to know each others' current locations and plan meetings around different schedules. Without calendaring applications, working groups that are spread between physical locations might have to resort to telephone or e-mail exchanges for every meeting needing to be scheduled.

Exchange

Some departments are on Microsoft Exchange servers and use Microsoft Outlook for their calendaring application. This is the best option if you are in one of these departments and only need to collaborate with other people on Exchange servers.

CorporateTime

The University also has a central Steltor CorporateTime calendar server that is available for use by faculty, staff, and student workers. Calendars can also be set up for conference rooms or shared equipment. The calendars may be accessed from a Web site or a client program installed on your computer, or you can sync the calendar information with your personal digital assistant. See helpdesk.ua.edu/calendar or call 348-2435 for more information.
