Software Licenses

One of the services provided by the Office of Information Technology is the management of software licensing programs. The largest of these programs is the Microsoft Campus Agreement, which provides licenses for select Microsoft products for participating departments. More information on the Agreement, including participating University departments, is available online at helpdesk.ua.edu/software/microsoft.

Other software licenses OIT manages include Minitab, Maple, Xwin32, SPSS, SAS, Autocad, Sun ScholarPac, and the SGI Varsity Program. Further information is available from helpdesk.ua.edu/software or by calling 348-2435.

In addition to these licensing programs, OIT also maintains site licenses and/or local downloads for many useful programs such as McAfee virus protection, FTP clients, and Secure Shell. These are available from computercenter.ua.edu/software.
