Web Publishing

OIT provides Web hosting service and assistance to faculty, staff, students, departments, and organizations on campus. The main academic computer, bama.ua.edu, has available space for every person, department, or organization that qualifies for an account. Information is available online at helpdesk.ua.edu/web or from the HelpDesk at 348-2435. The main University Web server, www.ua.edu, hosts pages for some of the major departments on campus. Some of the local area networks, such as cba.ua.edu, as.ua.edu, and sa.ua.edu, also host sites for departments in their areas.

Staff members who need assistance in creating or uploading their sites may want to enroll in the Web publishing classes offered by Network and Computing Support and Human Resources. Faculty can get help creating Web sites by calling the Faculty Resource Center (FRC) at 348-6095 or by e-mailing Lennie Schmandt at lennie@frc.ua.edu. The FRC also contracts to create departmental Web sites. Examples of past Web development work are on display at frc.ua.edu/web.html.
